The Sounds of Summer Concert Series

The next Sounds of Summer Concert Series will take place in the second week of January 2020 It is held in the warm and intimate acoustic of Joyes Hall at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. The performers are some of Australia’s finest string players who regularly perform with the Sydney or Melbourne Symphony Orchestras as well as in professional chamber ensembles. The Music Director of the Riverina Summer School for Strings is Susan Collins and she conceives the program and invites selected musicians to participate.

The concerts in Wagga are presented at 7.30 pm (except for Wednesday) for the exceptionally low cost of $25 per adult and the series always runs from Sunday to Friday, with a break on Tuesday evening.

As a special part of this year's series, on Friday 17 January we are presenting Bach's fourth Brandenburg Concerto for two recorders and strings with special guest artists Anna Stegmann (Royal Academy of Music, London) and Wagga's own Kimberly Scriven on the solo recorder parts.

In addition, this year we are embracing our links to the broader Riverina and are taking the concert on Wednesday 15 January out to The Arts Centre Cootamundra (TACC). This concert will start at 6.00 pm and will cost $20/$15 and is not included in the series ticket.

A season ticket for the performances in Wagga will set you back $80 and the series in 2020 will be from Sunday 12 January to Friday 17 January.
